Temporary Loving Care (TLC) was originally established as a collaboration of private foster care agencies in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area working together to provide quality respite care providers to foster parents.
In December 2005 members met to evaluate the usage of this program and to make a decision with regard to its continued existence. It was decided that TLC as a respite care program be dissolved. However, during this meeting it was agreed upon that this collaboration was a valuable resource and there existed a continued need for private agencies to network and share resources, particularly in the area of training. In January 2006 this group met again and decided to develop a training collaboration and retain the name TLC.
Purpose
The mission of TLC is to deliver regular, accessible, high quality, affordable, competency-based training to private agency and CPS foster and adoptive parents and staff. This is accomplished through a cooperative partnership between CPS and private child-placing agencies and associated agencies in the Arlington District (Region 3) of Child Protective Services (which includes Dallas, Tarrant and 17 surrounding counties). TLC members share a vision and commitment to provide training through joint activities aimed at strengthening the skills of foster and adoptive parents and agency staff.
